I Not Stupid

Read an article on NewPaper on the abolishment of EM3 streaming from year 2008. I believe its really a good move, one that should be received with open arms. Its indeed sad that we are living in an era where the level of education & the stream a pupil is in, is used to judge his calibre. Cos a child may not be academically inclined but might have a special talent in other areas. Like the example on the article of one EM3 pupil, went on to ITE enrolled on a MultiMedia Course and then proceeded to polytechnic to do an IT course. He is doing well getting "A"s now....the only difference is tht he is late boomer unlike the majority who exit from sec to poly/JC immediately. Its heartening to hear such success stories cos not all children will be as fast or smart as the parents or the surrounding want them to be. They should be given the right dose of encouragemnt, guidance by the parents and not forgetting their own space to develop their potential. Now is a common sight to see all the young parents enrolling their lil ones as early as 6 months to 7 yr olds to special learning schools which specialise on active play progs to nurture the child's growth. Is it really necessary to send them to such schs or growing trend pressure the parents to give their child a headstart just like the others...mm my time where got such things one? Everything learn at own pace and i needed help to write and color at 6 yrs old (K1) from my mum...and my teacher often spotted them and called my mum to complain...i got beatings from a certain uncle for not able to learn fast...hehe..yes i was a very slow starter...makes me wonder if I will be such an anxious parent to enroll my child to such specialised course..mmmm one thing is for sure...the costs of such progs are definitedly gona be exorbitant..
