How deep is your love?
Before you dwell on the title of the blog, Happy belated Mummy's Day to all the hot Mamas & Mummys to be....
Last week I had an interesting conversation with my colleague who has a 6 years old son. I discovered that he is going to home study his son and told me in detail the benefits of it. Apparently he has a home study group of parents who mingle alot and take turns to conduct class every weekend..besides that the mum do the teaching at home. According to him the home studying can give the child's basic foundation of character moulding and morals which our current edu system do not give. Added that in pri sch the boy can turn to a bad apple as he is too young to decide right from wrong at that tender age. However when he is reaching the sec school time he will be then able to tell rite from wrong and then its easier for him to decide wat he wants if the earlier foundation is strong by home studying. Then i queried him how about the socializing and he replied now that boy has church grps & home study group of frens. Then he lamented we are lazy cos we just give the money to the school to do the teaching & if our love was deeper for our child, we will do the hard work of teaching the child ourself with of course religion & morals etc...btw he will purchase MOE syllabus and his wife has a teaching cert. I was feeling like a horrible mum...after all he kept insisting last time that the love the child has with a Stay at home mum is stronger than a working mum...and i agree that SAHM work is def more tiring too....
Then i brought this home studying topic to my hubby who always has an opinion that makes pretty much sense. He said that was bull..a child will meet people different from him unlike now that boy meets frens from his comfort group like church, home study..in school that boy will learn to deal with so many characters and when he goes to sec sch he will feel lost from the sch system like CCA etc. Lastly, it doesnt matter how strong the foundations of character moulding cos when a person turns bad it could happen at any time of his life...so thats the end of the interesting analysis i had of homestudying....any ting to add on?
